About AI Construction Tools
Who's Behind This Site
I started AI Construction Tools because I was tired of reading vendor press releases dressed up as reviews. My background is in commercial construction, specifically estimating and project controls. For years I used spreadsheets, Bluebeam, and whatever scheduling software the GC required that month. When generative AI tools started showing up in 2023, I tested a few on real takeoffs and RFIs. Some saved genuine time. Most didn't. Almost none performed the way their marketing pages promised.
That gap between the pitch and the jobsite reality is why this site exists. I write from the perspective of someone who has sat in trailers reconciling change orders, not from a software sales floor. Every tool reviewed here gets tested against actual construction workflows: quantity takeoffs, schedule updates, safety documentation, submittal tracking. If a product works, I say so and explain exactly where it fits. If it falls short, I say that too.
How We Make Money
Transparency matters, so here is exactly how this site is funded. We participate in affiliate programs with some of the tools we review. When you click a link on our site and sign up for a product, we may earn a commission from the vendor. This costs you nothing extra.
That said, affiliate relationships never influence our assessments. We decide what to review based on what construction teams are actually asking about, not on which vendors offer the highest payouts. Our testing process is the same whether a tool has an affiliate program or not: we run it through real tasks, document the results, and report what we find. Tools with affiliate links are clearly marked so you always know when a link is monetized.
If a tool is bad, we say so regardless of the commission. Our long-term value depends on readers trusting our recommendations. That trust is worth more than any single referral fee.
Our Editorial Standards
- No sponsored content without disclosure. If a vendor pays us to publish something, it will be labeled clearly at the top. To date, we have not published any sponsored posts.
- No pay-for-play rankings. Our "best of" lists and comparison articles are ordered by test results and practical fit, never by who pays us the most.
- First-hand testing. We do not rewrite feature lists from vendor websites. Every review includes hands-on testing with construction-specific tasks.
- Corrections on the record. If we get something wrong, we update the article with a visible correction note and the date of the change.
